1920's "Puttin' on the Ritz" Headpiece Inspiration

I am helping put together a Prom for the kids out here in Surprise, AZ. Our theme is "Puttin" on the Ritz"! So to help them get some ideas for headpieces, I made these examples and thought that my friends in the blog world might like to see them and maybe use the ideas for inspiration for future projects. Anyway, it has been great fun putting these items together.
FABULOUS!

I recently joined this "IronCraft" blog roll. Each week there is a different arts and craft challenge. I thought it would give my creative juices a workout. This week's challenge is called "Just Bunt". I made this Banner Bunting with all $1 scrapbooking items from Target a while back. (The bunting that I am working on now is not ready for this weeks challenge, but hey, I just joined this group a couple of days ago. I am VERY excited for the challenges.)
Anyway, I just love that Valentines Day is 6 weeks after Christmas, it is a drag to have all those fun decorations up and then nothing, so yeah for Valentine Decor! Red and Pink surroundings await!

Sometimes I even impress myself!

Usually when I make something", I never seem to create whatever it is as fabulously as I envision it. There is always an element that I wish I had more skill in doing, or I wish I could afford the material I ideally wanted to use, or something just didn't work like I thought. But this time, the stars seemed to be aligned! I bought this FABULOUS OLD SLIP at a thrift store, immediately I thought of an ottoman. I had a old foot stool that was in one of my daughters rooms way back when that I bought from TARGET that we were no longer using. I first covered and stapled some batting over the whole thing. Then I sewed the pillow together with some fabric I had been saving and covered it over a piece of foam that I cut into a circle the same size of the ottoman. I then sewed the slip onto the pillow's bottom edge. The whole thing sits on top of the ottoman. It doesn't budge because the batting "holds" the fabric of the pillow in place. I can't tell you how much I LOVE this piece of furniture! It has been a great conversation piece and I like to imagine who was so FABULOUS to have bought this slip in the first place...

TARGET $1 bargain bins are the GREATEST!

Don't you just LOVE Target's $1 bins ?!!! They have the BEST stuff for decorating and small little gifts and object lesson goodies. I made this "LOVE" banner entirely with TARGET $1 bin merchandise. I bought 2 packages of paper (I wouldn't have needed both, but I messed up my measurements at first, no worries, those pieces of paper can still be used by my grand kids to make valentines). I bought 1 "LOVE" garland and took the ribbon off and cut it up to attach after I made each triangle. Oh, and I also bought 1 package of matching brads and 1 package of matching ribbon. I also have plenty of brads and ribbon left. One of these days, when I have more time, it would be fun to see how many things you could make with a few $1 scrap booking items. So BRAVO! TARGET, for seeing a need and making affordable fun items available for all our your patrons.
