I am helping put together a Prom for the kids out here in Surprise, AZ. Our theme is "Puttin" on the Ritz"! So to help them get some ideas for headpieces, I made these examples and thought that my friends in the blog world might like to see them and maybe use the ideas for inspiration for future projects. Anyway, it has been great fun putting these items together.
FABULOUS! 
Conway was getting into everything on the TV consoles shelves, so we looked for boxes to fit in the shelves. That turned out either impossible to fit or just way too expensive. So I bought a pack of storage boxes and cut them down to size and Devan and I glued wrapping paper onto them. Conway got into them the first day, but tired of trying to take off the box's lids, so now he has forgotten about them. Success!
Devan need more storage for toys, I got these two bookshelves at Walmart for $15 each. I again cut a couple of office supply storage boxes to fit and used cereal boxes and whatever cardboard boxes we could find and covered them with fabric. Don't they look fun?
When Chelsea was visiting Devan, she started to recover this rocker that Devan paid $20 on e-bay for. I did the finishing touches and also found this little chair and recovered it. Conway loves sitting in it!
One day when Devan came home from an appointment she announced that there was a sofa out in the grass by the garbage. I went down to see it, got a helper to lug it up to her second story apartment with me and we bought some foam and fabric and put together this fabulous vintage setting. FUN!!!
"Barry and the Cheese" can be seen about town wearing their signature round glasses and hats. Sometimes at special events, they will dawn comfortable polyester suits and fashionable slacks.
"Barry and the Cheese" just LOVE all types of Jello products and are equally fond of Spam.

I have to brag a bit on these little numbers. I copied, then cropped the jewelry and placed them on the lovely sophisticated women: Kelli, Melanie and Mary. How's that for detail!

With the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, Stephanie can't decide which "Can-Can" petticoat to wear. OK, more than one at once!
Lindsey's hair looked a mess before she used a "Bliss" treatment. Now her golden locks look like spun gold!
There is no one better to ask for advice than Jen. She's a wealth of knowledge, and can surely tell you what toilet paper is the best.... and what color will suit your bathroom AND bottom!
Again, there is no stronger woman than our girl Steph. Need a jar opened?, a hem mended?, or the light bulb changed?, She'll do it with a smile on her face!
I guess I should go wash the dishes and pay some attention to my husband and get off of this computer. It was a BLAST putting these together. More (hopefully) to come!
I want to make a really fabulous play set for the glamchildren someday for the "playhouse" that will "someday" be built in our backyard. But until then, I got one of the cardboard boxes that we used to move with, glued baby food bottles on the bottom for legs then painted that all red, then I cut a splash board out of more cardboard, spray painted it all white and glued two large can lids (painted silver) on the top for burners. I used two washers and a knob I found in my stash for finishing touches. (look, you can store all the play dishes in the box!...I'm a genius!) ha-ha
Here's how the little kitchen looks in our TV room. I purchased the kids game table at a thrift store and replaced the adult size legs with shorter, kid sized legs.
Daisy and Carma squealed with delight when I brought the "kitchen" in the room today. That made all the "racking my brain to figure out how to make stuff" worth it!!!

Onto more interesting things...Today after church, Carma and Daisy found the "Big Girl" panties that I made years ago (and wore the other night for the "Where's Waldo?" activity) when I was in a few melodramas in Cave Creek. (I played buxom call girls or "villianesses", and for a brief time I actually wanted to be an actress!) Anyway, the girls walked into the room like this....

Some days are just not all that exciting. Like today as I reorganized the pantry. One cool thing is the old "Jack Links" beef jerky grocery shelf that I bought at a thrift store. It is kind of hard to see in this photo.
Another cool thing is the old First Aid box that I also got at a thrift store. I did paint the big red cross on it though, and sanded it to make it look older.
That's it........
I finally sort-of finished the vanity that I bought at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I bought the mirror at the used hotel furniture place, and I screwed in some fab. knobs that I hung some vintage jewelry from.
I also bought some chair padding and black velvet and filled some old boxes with it to make some jewelry organizers.
Inside this drawer are some bracelet holders that I made by covering pieces of swimming toy float. After trimming it to fit into the drawers, I covered it with the black velvet. I secured the jewelry with hat pins...
So I made this page the other day and tried to use only one graphics kit so that I could remember it in acknowledging the designer. Well, I lost that note that said where it was! Anyway I will find it and make sure that I do not forget next time.

After a long day in the very HOT sun (we were there the one day a heat wave came through), anyway we started making a pile by the exit where the babies could have some shade. I'm so excited about this vanity!
Here are my girls starting to load up two sets of old lockers, an old two piece oak filing cabinet, a very cool birdcage, the bottom half of a mannequin, a crib for Kelli's new baby due in July, a rocker for baby Carma, and a ton of "good crap" that we couldn't resist.

and we are all ready to go home. That old army trailer we have is the best! It pulls great and the back gate can be hung like a table for cooking when we go camping. I'm thinking of painting it red and painting "Red Rider" on it like the Howe family did. I'm getting tired of the "giraffe" spots that were supposed to be leopard spots that I painted 15 years ago. This weekend was a FABULOUS girls trip for my daughters and I. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!
I found this Half Doll in an antique mall in El Cajon, Ca. two years ago during our annual camping trip at the beach. I just love her! Also, I've had a few people ask me what exactly are Half Dolls, so I googled it and found this:

And here are a few more. I have a stash of beautiful antique lace and ribbons, pieces of raw silk and tiny, tiny buttons...All waiting for me to transform these Glam Gals into Fashionistas. Oh, if I only had a few more hours in the day!
then, while taking photos of the Half Dolls today.... WHAT DID I DO?!!!!!! I accidentally knocked over my FABULOUS little jewelry box that I found in a thrift store. (My heart sunk for a moment) The box had a few pieces of jewelry already on it when I bought it, so I added some that I had inherited from my Grandmother Bochman. (only the broken pieces of course) Oh well, I've got to get my glue box down and get to "fixin"!
