My Paper Mache Dear Head

Remember this Dear Head that I made from cereal boxes? Well, even though it looked fun, some of the cardboard was very flimsy, so I decided to cover it with paper mache. It took days and days of adding layers, drying time and more layering. I had to tape and prop it up as it was so heavy.
I finished the last layer with the comics from our daily newspaper. Doesn't it look great?

I'm refining my own pattern so that I can make some to take to a few custom decor shops around the valley.
I think I'd like to make some crazy fantasy animal head too. Fun!

Love love how this turned out! Super fab! I think he would look cute using pages from an old book too. Maybe even in a foreign language if he is a well traveled deer.

Bumped into you blog. Being a paper mache artist myself I have to say what a magnificent job you did on this trophy! Excellent work.

And yes, a fantasy animal would be great fun. May I suggest a dragon trophy?

Congratulations.

Hi I just stumbled on your blog and had to say great job on the dear head. I am a bit obsessed with the fake wall heads at the moment but this newspaper covered one looks really chic and fun. Great job!
